Cicero Places 12th In 5,000 At NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Freshman Maria Cicero (Elmhurst, Ill.) placed 12th in the 5,000-meter at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday evening at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Cicero, who is the only member of the Boston College women's track and field team to compete at this championship, turned in a time of 16:42.72. Her time was exactly 30 seconds behind NCAA champion Siri Alfheim of Oklahoma State, who finished with a time of 16:12.28.
Cicero entered the event with the fourth fastest time in the nation, a mark which she set at the Boston University Terrier Classic. She was the only freshman to compete in the event.
