A rough weekend for BC baseball.
After a dramatic extra inning victory against the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens in game one, the Eagles dropped the next two in not so dramatic fashion. We had some solid individual performances, but with the exception of game one we never put the total team package together. We could not put together the big inning that could give us a win or a real emotional boost. However, as in everything, there are things to be improved upon and lessons to be learned. It is never enjoyable for a team to lose, however, we must accentuate the positives. There were positives that could be taken away from the weekend and those positives luckily have been characteristic of our team this season. The positive, which I speak of, is our team never gives up and has a "never say die" attitude. Regardless of the situation and how much we were up or down, we never packed in and took the loss lightly. This is an extremely important part of any team, and I am sure that it will eventually bring us to our goal of a 40-win season. With the lessons learned from this weekend and other weekends past, we are ready to learn from our mistakes and enter into Big East play this upcoming weekend.
We open with a very talented Rutgers squad, who is a solid team one through nine. After this past weekend, the mood of our team seems to be one of extreme excitement. We are ready to get out there and play hard against one of the tougher teams in our conference. We know that we are better than what we showed in Delaware, and the Eagles are preparing to open some eyes this weekend. Conference play is what we have prepared for all season, and the team is ready to play and start after our goal of winning the conference championship in Somerset, N.J.
