Record: 1-8
The first few weeks of our season have flown by and in a way, seems like it has been an interesting mix of practice, games, hotels, flights, team meetings, large meals and of course, "Operation Yee-haw!!" Our challenging and exciting schedule has provided us with may ups and downs to prepare us for our upcoming BIG EAST games.
One thing we've learned is that at times, when we fall, we fall hard. (Just ask Elyse and Coach Finley and I'm sure they can tell you tell about it!! Ha Ha!) But on the field, we're beginning to learn what it takes to get back up again. After acquiring a dismal record of 0-8 on our Spring Break trip to Arizona and Las Vegas, we pulled together and took our last game, 5-0, over UNLV.
We are at a point in our season where we have to make a decision. We can chose to get discouraged by our record and find useless excuses for why we lost or should have won. Or, we can chose to focus on our strength, and the many highlights we have seen so far, and use that to obtain a positive outlook that will motivate us once our conference games begin.
Off the field, we took many great memories home from our trip out west. In Phoenix, we spent one morning hiking a two-mile trail up the side of a mountain. A few days later, we enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner at Amy's house in Tucson. The freshmen even got a chance to take a refreshing swim in her pool. Hahaha...
After Tucson, we were on our way to Las Vegas! You can see lots of crazy stuff when you stay on the Vegas strip for four days. After shopping, roller coasters, buffets, back-up singers at 10 a.m., VIP rooms at ESPNZone and War, we were all very ready to head back home to Boston. We're juts lucky we were able to convince Lombardi to join us on the plane!
In the end, we had fun, ate too much, spent too much money, learned a lot about ourselves and each other, and became much more prepared to face our BIG EAST opponents.
