Women's Lacrosse Signs Four Recruits

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Four players have signed National Letters of Intent to play lacrosse at Boston College in 2003, according to an announcement made my head coach Shari Krasnoo. All four players signed during the early signing period.
Joining the Eagles for the 2003 campaign are attacker Liz Fayad (McLean, Va.), midfielders Nancy Gillis (Needham, Mass.) and Alana Vivolo (Voorhees, N.J.), and defender Jennifer Gens (Sherwood Forest, Md.).
Fayad comes to BC from National Cathedral high school in Washington, D.C, where she currently is a senior. A three-year starter on the NCS varsity lacrosse team, she was the leading scorer as a junior, registering 43 goals and 14 assists, while garnering All-American honorable mention honors. A three-sport athlete, she was elected captain of the varsity field hockey and ice hockey teams. She also received all-league and MVP honors for her outstanding play in field hockey.
Gillis is in her final year at Needham High School, where she started for Massachusetts State Finalist teams in her first three years, winning two state championships (1999 &2000). During her junior season, she was second on her team in scoring with 35 goals and 22 assists and was elected co-captain. In addition she was named the Needham Times Female Athlete of the Year. Also as a junior, she captained her varsity ice hockey team to the Division I State semifinals and was named the team's MVP. She also received all-scholastic recognition from the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald.
Vivolo comes to BC from Eastern Regional High School, where she currently is in her final year. A two-year varsity player at the defensive midfielder position, her teams compiled a record of 32-7 for both seasons. As a junior, she scored 19 goals and added 22 assists to lead Eastern to a 17-3 record and was named to the Second Team All-Conference and Second Team All-South Jersey. A two-sport star, she was elected captain of her varsity soccer team for her senior year and received First Team All-Conference honors for both her junior and senior seasons. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.
Gens is in her senior year at Severn School in Maryland and will co-captain her varsity lacrosse team this season. A two-year varsity starter, she lead the team to a 14-5 record as a junior and was named the Mid-Atlantic School Girls Second Team. A two-sport athlete, she was elected co-captain of her varsity field hockey team for both her junior and senior years and received all-state, all-county, and all-conference honors as a junior. Off the field, she excels in the classroom and was selected to the National Honor Society. In addition, she received the National French Award as a junior.
