Baseball Defeats St. Bonaventure, 6-3, For Sixth Win

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Freshman pitcher Kevin Shepard gave up no hits and no runs through seven innings of work Thursday evening as the Boston College baseball team (6-4) defeated St. Bonaventure (0-1), 6-3, in the Homestead Challenge.
Shepard was pulled following seven innings of work after striking out six St. Bonaventure batters, while only walking two. Freshmen Jake Marsello and Chris Lambert both pitched one inning apiece to help seal the victory of the Eagles. For the game, Boston College only allowed two hits and one earned run.
From a hitting standpoint, the Eagles pounded out 12 hits, three of which came off the bat of left fielder Neal McCarthy. He was the only batter in the game to record three hits, however, right fielder Brian Macchi, first baseman Vinny Scavone and third baseman Jason Delaney each registered two hits apiece. Macchi and catcher Jeff Mackor also drove in two runs apiece.
St. Bonaventure starting pitcher Brian Mitchell only lasted 1.1 innings, as he gave up two runs (both of which were earned), three hits, one walk and struck out only one Boston College batter. The Bonnies two hits were recorded by catcher Damian Blakeley and shortstop Kevin Ryan.
