Women's Ice Hockey Falls to No. 7 Providence College

Providence, R.I. -- The No. 7 Providence College women's ice hockey team defeated Boston College, 6-2, on Saturday, December 7 at Schneider Arena.
Boston College got on the board quickly as Kerri Sanders beat freshman goaltender Jana Bugden just 18 seconds into the game. The Friars settled down as the period progressed and at the 16:12 mark of the first period sophomore Rush Zimmerman scored. In the second period Providence scored three times as juniors Darlene Stephenson and Kelli Halcisak scored. After not playing in the last two games Stephenson scored twice. The third goal of the period was scored by Halcisak as she beat her defender wide and then put a double move on the BC goaltender and slid the puck into an open net. The Friars scored two more times in the third period as Zimmerman and Payton tallied their third and second points on the day, respectively. Boston College scored at the 16:43 mark of the third period as Alaina Clark scored from the top of the right circle on a back-hander that handcuffed Bugden.
Providence outshot Boston College, 43-14. Eagle netminder Alison Quandt recorded 37 saves in the win.
Boston College takes a break for the holidays and final exams and will return to action on December 30.
