BOSTON (AP) - Troy Bell scored 22 points to become just the fourth player in Boston College history to surpass 2,000 points, leading the Eagles to a 79-61 victory over Stony Brook on Sunday.
Bell, who has 2,003 points in his career, joined Dana Barros, Billy Curley and Danya Abrams in reaching that number.
Craig Smith scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Eagles (5-2), who have won four straight games, while Ryan Sidney added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Jairus McCollum had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Stony Brook (4-3).
Boston College, which led 32-31 at halftime, broke the game open with a 22-6 run over a 5:54 stretch. Smith had nine of the Eagles' last 12 points in the run.
Boston College took the lead for good at 40-39 on Sidney's three-point play with 14:10 to go. Bell followed with a 3-pointer from the right wing and Andrew Bryant added another 3 just under a minute later.
After Mike Konopka hit a 3-pointer for the Seawolves, Smith scored his nine points as the Eagles took control.
It was the first meeting between the schools. Stony Brook is 0-10 all-time against Big East teams.
