Boston College To Hold 11th Annual Baseball Night In Boston

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team's Diamond Club will hold its 11th annual "Baseball Night in Boston" on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002. The event will be held at the prestigious .406 Club (formerly the 600 Club) at Fenway Park, beginning at 6 p.m. Special guest Tommy Lasorda will be in attendance and will be honored at the dinner.
The annual Baseball Night event will benefit both the BIG EAST Athletes Care program, a social service project that utilizes college student-athletes to provide educational and recreational opportunities to children in the city of Boston, and the Boston College baseball program.
Lasorda is currently in his seventh year as Vice President and 53rd overall with the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization. His current duties include scouting, evaluating and teaching minor league players, as well as promoting baseball goodwill throughout the country.
During his 20-year career as manager for the Dodgers, Lasorda complied a 1,599-1,439 record, won two World Championships, four National League pennants and eight divisional titles. In 1997 he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
Lasorda's most recent accomplishment occurred during the summer of 2000. Lasorda was named manager of the Olympic Baseball Team for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia where he guided the team to the first ever U.S. Olympic baseball gold medal.
