BOSTON (AP) - Troy Bell scored 29 points Tuesday night to lead Boston College to an 80-61 win over Boston University.
Ryan Sidney had 17 points and Craig Smith scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Eagles (1-1).
Billy Collins led the Terriers (1-2) with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jason Grochowalski added 15 points.
Bell, who was 2-for-14 from the floor and scored eight points in the Eagles' season-opening 85-58 loss to St. Joseph's, hit 8 of 12 shots after missing his first two.
BC, which led 37-31 at halftime, let the Terriers pull within three on Collins' 3-pointer 2:03 into the second half. But the Eagles broke the contest open with a 13-0 run during a 3:13 span. Sidney had six points and Bell five in the run.
After Collins' basket made it 37-34, Bell sandwiched a pair of 3-pointers around Sidney's tip-in.
The Eagles extended the lead to 62-42 on Sidney's basket with 8:44 to play. BU got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
The Eagles used an 18-4 run midway through the first half to build a 15-point lead before the Terriers closed the half with nine unanswered points.
The start of the game was delayed 25 minutes by late-arriving officials.
