Women's Hockey Blanked by Niagara

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - The Boston College women's hockey team suffered a tough 6-0 loss to Niagara University on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 1-4-1 on the year, while Niagara improves to 6-2-0 after today's game.
Despite recording only seven shots in the first period, the Purple Eagles of Niagara led the Boston College Eagles 1-0 at the first intermission. Katie Sweeney found the back of the net at 6:06 during a period that included a combined 12 penalty minutes.
Amy Jack and Sara Puryear each tallied goals in the second period. The Eagles gave up a shorthanded goal to Valerie Hall to open the floodgates for Niagara in the third period. Jack scored her second of the game at the 11:24 mark, and Candice Moxley put the sixth goal in the net to close out the scoring for the home team.
Lisa Davis allowed four goals and made 25 saves for Boston College. Alison Quandt was beaten twice after replacing Davis in the third period and stopped seven shots in her first game action as an Eagle. Breanne Doyle made 17 saves in the Niagara net en route to her second shutout of the season.
Boston College returns to Conte Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 12 when it will face the Quinnipiac Bobcats. Face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
