CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team (2-4-1) dominated Quinnipiac University (1-5) by a score of 5-1 at Conte Forum on Tuesday evening. Sophomores Heidi Seidewand and Lindsey Bazzone notched two goals in the win.
Quinnipiac got on the board first when Elizabeth Jankowski beat Eagle netminder, Lisa Davis, on just the second shot of the contest. Bazzone tied the score on a power play goal from Kristin Blundo and Sarah Carlson at the end of the first period.
Thia Connolly would open the scoring for the second period on another Boston College man advantage. Connolly's first goal of the season would prove to be the game winner, as Davis would not let another of the Bobcats' 12 total shots beat her.
Seidewand added two insurance goals for Boston College, the first from Genevieve Richardson at 11:18 in the second period, and the second from Connolly and Jill McInnis at 5:55 in the third. Bazzone notched her second of the game and the season, unassisted, just 16 seconds later to bury the Bobcats.
Seidewand, Bazzone, Connolly, Richardson and McInnis each recorded two points in the rout. The two-goal performance by Bazzone and Seidewand earned them the first and third stars of the game, while Jankowski of Quinnipiac was given the nod for the second star.
Mel Courtemanche made 16 saves in the Quinnipiac net.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, Nov. 17 when they face-off against RPI at 2 p.m. in Conte Forum.
