CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's hockey team shut out Rensselaer, 6-0, Sunday afternoon at Kelley Rink. The win brings the Eagles to 3-4-1 on the season, while RPI falls to 2-2-0.
Sophomore Lindsey Bazzone scored two goals - both on the power play - to lead BC to its second consecutive victory.
Senior Jaclyn Kryzak opened the scoring at 5:38 of the first period, and the Eagles never looked back. Junior Alaina Clark gave the Eagles a 2-0 advantage at 9:39 of the first period, on a nifty move to beat RPI goalie Julie Vallarelli for the tally.
After senior Thia Connolly gave BC a 3-0 lead at 2:33 of the second period, Bazzone notched her two power-play goals to increase the Eagles' lead to 5-0.
Freshman Sarah Courtney scored her first goal of the season at 14:39 of the second period to close BC's scoring.
Freshman Alison Quandt made her first career start in goal, earning a shutout with the victory. Quandt made eight saves for the Eagles. Vallarelli made 18 saves for RPI in 30:02 of play, while Rosina Schiff made 18 saves in 29:58.
The Eagles return to action Sunday, Nov. 24, when they travel to New Haven, Conn., to face Yale University. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
