NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team (4-4-1) skated to a 3-1 victory over Yale University (2-6-0) Sunday afternoon in New Haven, Conn. Two freshmen and a sophomore tallied goals in the victory.
Boston College notched one goal in each frame. Freshman Kristin Blundo beat Yale netminder, Sarah Love, off a pass from Jaclyn Kryzak and Lindsey Bazzone at 2:32 in the first period.
Classmate Jill McInnis followed suit in the second period with a power-play goal, the would-be game winner, from Genevieve Richardson and Bazzone. The goals were the first of their collegiate careers for Blundo and McInnis.
Yale tried to muster a comeback, when Erin Duggan beat freshman goalie Alison Quandt early in the third period, but the Eagles answered back. Renee Taylor notched an unassisted insurance goal late in the game for her second of the season.
Bazzone's two assists extend her two-point scoring streak to three games. The sophomore scored twice in each of the Eagles' previous contests, and added the assists today. She was named Hockey East co-Player of the Week in the midst of the point-scoring streak.
Quandt made 29 saves to earn the win for the Eagles, her second in two games, and now holds a 2-0 career record. Love stopped Boston College 20 times.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday, Nov. 29 when they face Union College in Kelley Rink.
