Crew Results From Head Of The Charles

BOSTON - The Boston College women's championship eight captured 28th place out of 47 teams in Sunday's 38th Head of the Charles Regatta. The championship eight had a strong early-season finish for a young crew, defeating Big East rivals Rutgers, Georgetown and Miami. The crew turned in a time of 17:55.310 while the winner of the event, US Rowing, rowed the course in 16:12.903.
Also competing Sunday, the women's youth four, consisting entirely of recruited freshmen, did exceptionally well, finishing ninth. The crew earned an automatic entry for next year's Head of the Charles, finishing within 5 percent of the winning time. St. Catherines took first place with a time of 19:37.969 while the Eagles finished in 20:34.114.
The Eagles club eight, competing in very challenging conditions Saturday, took 37th out of the 59 competing teams, defeating a number of crews it lost to the previous week at the Head of the Connecticut. The University of Tennessee Lady Vols won the event, turning in a time of 17:07.493, while the Eagles crossed the finish line in 18:35.458.
