BRONX, N.Y. - The No. 12-ranked Boston College women's cross country team took home first place at the Paddy Doyle/Iona College Meet of Champions on Saturday morning. The Eagles entered Saturday looking to rebound from a disappointing second-place finish at the Boston College Invitational back on September 18.
The Eagles finished with a team score of 31, which was 78 points better than second-place Boston University. Boston College was led my juniors Cate and Maggie Guiney, who finished first and second, respectively. Cate finished with a time of 20:05.20, which was 37 seconds faster than her sister Maggie, who finished with a time of 20:43.10.
Boston College Invitational winner Maria Cicero had another strong race for the Eagles. The freshman finished fourth with a time of 20:52.20. Senior Katie Ryan rounded out the top-ten finishers for BC as she place ninth with a time of 21:09.00.
The women's team is back in action on Friday, October 12, when it runs at the New Championship at Franklin Park in Boston.
