Boston, Mass.-The Boston College sailing team had a stellar weekend as they returned to competition after not having raced in the week following the World Trade Center attacks. The eagles began a two-day event at Tufts, the Hood Trophy. Saturday had sunny conditions with 3-12 knot winds from the Southeast and Sunday had dying winds of 0-3 knots out of the North. Last year's collegiate sailor of the year senior Tyler Pruett paired with freshman Joy MacDougal to capture the A division of the race coming from behind with first and second place finishes in the last two races on Sunday. The teams of junior Mark Teborek and freshman Julie Wilson, and junior Bradley Yetman and sophomore Adie Hinman combined for a fifth place in the B division. Overall the team finished third behind Tufts and St. Mary's.
Boston College continued their success with a quartet of strong finishes at the Interclubs Women's Singlehanded Eliminations. The race was run at Harvard under good conditions with an 8-10 knot breeze out of the Southwest. Three Eagles qualified for the Interclubs with first, third, and fourth place finishes awarded to junior Carrie Howe, senior Cryssa Byers, and junior Amanda Allen respectively. Senior Cristin Sager finished seventh to round out a solid performance by the Eagles.
At the New England Men's Singlehanded qualifiers the Eagle's had a couple of sailors competing. Junior Mark Teborek finished fourth winning two individual races and freshman Jeff Bonnanni finished thirteenth. The event was held at Yale in a 2-6 knot breeze with otherwise warm and favorable conditions.
