CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In light of the national tragedy on September 11, there will be increased security for the Boston College vs. Army football game on September 29, 2001, and the remaining home games of the 2001 season at Alumni Stadium.
The purpose of this added security is to ensure the safety of all those who take part in a Boston College home football game.
"Security at home football games here at Boston College has always been a high-priority for the entire campus community," says BC director of athletes Gene DeFilippo. "We will be taking extra measures because of the tragic events that have occurred in our country."
No backpacks, coolers, umbrellas or large packages will be allowed into Alumni Stadium. In addition, all smaller bags and purses may be subject to inspection before entrance into Alumni Stadium and all patrons may be subject to additional search.
The gates to Alumni Stadium will open at 10:00 a.m (one-half hour earlier than normal) to accommodate the increased security demands. Boston College encourages all ticket holders to enter the stadium early to avoid possible delays. In addition, ticket holders will not be admitted into Alumni Stadium past the first hour of the game and there will be no readmission to the game after a ticket holder leaves the stadium.
For the latest updates on our security measures, please continue to look at the athletic department website.
Boston College thanks all involved for their patience and understanding in this time of increased security.
