Women's Cross Country Squad Places Second at BC Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - Freshman Maria Cicero made the most of her first collegiate cross country meet by taking home first place with a time of 17:15.20 at the Boston College Cross Country Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Franklin Park. The No. 2 ranked Eagles finished in second place for the meet with a total of 34 points, which was five behind BIG EAST rival Providence, who finished with 29 points.
Boston College and Providence both finished with four runners in the top ten. Junior Maggie Guiney was the second-highest finisher as she placed third with a time of 17:26.40. Sophomores Jennifer Kramer and Danielle Jelley finished in sixth- and tenth-place, respectively. Kramer finished in 17:51.50, while Jelley ran across the finish line with a time of 18:09.20.
The Eagles were without two of their top runners in juniors Kate Guiney and Julie Spolidoro, who were both out with injuries. Providence junior Roisin McGettigan finished four seconds behind Cicero to take home second place with a time of 17:19.30.
The Boston College women's cross country team is back in action on Saturday, September 29, when it runs at the Iona College Meet of Champions in Bronx, N.Y.
