CHESTNUT HILL, Mass - A full slate of 24 HOCKEY EAST Conference games, two in-season tournaments and the 50th annual Beanpot Tournament highlight Boston College's 2001-02 hockey schedule, which was released by director of athletics Gene DeFilippo.
The Eagles will kick off the 2001-02 season on October 6 when the team travels to Vermont. The following weekend, the team will participate in the Frontier Classic, hosted by the University of Alaska-Anchorage. Boston College will face Denver on Friday, October 12 and host UAA on Saturday, October 13.
Boston College will open its home schedule on Friday, October 19 against UMass-Lowell. The home schedule is also highlighted with the traditional meeting between Boston College and Notre Dame on the eve of the schools' football game. This year, the hockey game will be played on Friday, October 26 at 7 p.m.
The Eagles open November with a two-game series at Wisconsin on November 2-3. BC will also participate in the Silverado Shootout on December 28-29 in Duluth, Minn., facing Miami (Ohio) in the first round and either Minnesota-Duluth or Yale in the second round.
After a road game at Yale on January 6, Boston College will play eight straight games against HOCKEY EAST opponents, including a two-game set against Boston University on January 18 and 20. The Eagles will also face BU in the first round of the 50th annual Beanpot on Monday, February 4 at 8 p.m.
Boston College will conclude the regular season on March 2 and 3 with a home-and-home series with New Hampshire.
