Bell, Team USA Advance To Tournament Title Game

Boston College junior guard Troy Bell registered nine points in 24 minutes of action as Team USA defeated Argentina, 95-90, in the semifinal round of the 2001 FIBA World Championship for Young Men in Saitama, Japan.
Bell shot 1-for-3 from the field and 7-for-9 from the foul line. He missed his one three-point field goal attempt. He also contributed six assists, three steals and two rebounds to the U.S. effort.
The game was tied at 45-45 at halftime, before the United States outscored Argentina, 24-17, in the third quarter.
Team USA, having earned its seventh win in nine days, will play Croatia in the tournament's gold-medal game on Sunday, August 12.
