Football Chosen Fourth In BIG EAST Preseason Poll

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College football team, coming off its second straight bowl game appearance and a 7-5 record in 2000, was selected fourth in the 2001 BIG EAST Football Preseason Media Poll, released today by the league.
Defending league champion Miami was selected first, receiving 21 of the possible 24 first-place votes. Virginia Tech followed with the three remaining first-place votes. Pittsburgh was selected third, followed by the Eagles. Syracuse, West Virginia, Temple and Rutgers complete the list.
Boston College returns eight starters on defense and six on offense. The Eagles will kick off the 2001 season on Sept. 1 against West Virginia at home at noon. The game will be televised on ABC.
