Fiske Named Regional Coach Of The Year

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's rowing coach Steve Fiske was named New England Regional Coach of the Year by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, after leading the Eagles in their first year as a varsity program.
In just one season as a varsity sport after 13 years as a club program, Eagle crews enjoyed their most successful year in school history. At the Dad Vail Regatta, the first varsity eight crew won its first gold medal at the event and the second varsity eight won the silver medal. Winning the points trophy at the New England Championship, the first and second varsity eights took second place earning silver medals and the varsity four took third for a bronze medal. At the inaugural BIG EAST Challenge, Boston College took fourth place following three ranked teams.
Eligible for the first time ever, Boston College's earned a sixth-place ranking in the first varsity eight in the most competitive region, New England, on May 6.
The criteria for determining the regional coaches of the year are: 1. had outstanding success during the current season. 2. demonstrated great team improvement from prior season. 3. fulfilled his/her team's potential. 4 demonstrated a high level of professionalism and integrity as a coach. Also selected as regional coaches of the year are from the west Tammy Crawford (Washington State), south Susie Lueck (Clemson), central Mark Rothstein (Michigan), mid-Atlantic Kris Stanford (Syracuse) and New England Steve Fiske (Boston College).
