CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - - For the second time this season, Boston College fell to cross-town rival Northeastern University. The Huskies grabbed a 19-9 victory over the Eagles Tuesday in Chestnut Hill, dropping the Eagles record to 19-20.
The Huskies collected 16 hits and were granted seven walks by four BC pitchers. Each team committed three errors. Sophomore right-hander Brendan Ryan registered the win, allowing six runs - four earned - on eight hits in 5.0 innings. Senior John Burns pitched 3.0 innings effectively for the save.
Erik Olson, the losing pitcher, exited after only 3.0 innings, having surrendered seven runs on six hits with five walks. In relief, freshman Mike Gauthier allowed six earned runs on seven hits in his 2.1 inning stint. Mark Sullivan gave up a run, facing eight batters, and Matt O'Donnell pitched a hitless eighth inning.
Both Chris Rosado and Brian Durkin had two RBIs on the day for the Eagles. Durkin had a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Nick Graves led the Huskies' offensive barrage with a 3-for-5 performance and three RBIs. He was one of six Northeastern batters to have a multiple-hit outing at Shea Field. Both Mike Lomuscio and Coley O'Donnell each drove in three runs.
