Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past No. 20 Stanford

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Lauren Miller had a career day with six goals and five assists, as she led the Boston College women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 victory over 20th ranked Stanford, today, at Alumni Stadium.
The Eagles opened the scoring at 27:48 when Chrissie DeMichele scored from a Kelly Boyle pass. The Eagles then went more than five minutes without a score, when Miller score the first of her six goals at 22:08. Twenty-five seconds later, Meggie O'Neill netted her only goal of the game from a Miller pass.
Going for more than seven minutes with out a goal, the Eagles went on to score four goals in less than four minutes. In that span, Miller score one goal and assisted on three others, Emily Ryan scored and assisted on her only goals of the game, Katie Kauffman and DeMichele each had one goal.
Scoring their first goal of the game at 7:54, Liz Lanese sent one pass Eagle goaltender Rachel Zeller. Assisting on the play was Liz Britt. To end the half, DeMichele scored from O'Neill at 6:45 and Miller scored her third goal of the game from Tara Morley at 1:47. At the intermission, Boston College led 9-1.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to jump on the board, scoring nine goals in first 16 minutes. Lengthening the lead to 18-1, BC used three goals from Miller, two goals from DeMichele, one goal each from Rachel Bausch, Kauffman, Zwarg and Katie Zorzi to gain their largest lead of the season. Also picking up assists during the surge were Miller, Kauffman and Morley, with one apiece.
Stanford's only run of the game came when they scored their remaining three goals of the game. At 12:20 Lauren Dietrich scored from Noor Dawood. One minute later Abbi Hills sent one past Zeller. The Cardinals final goal of day came from Sarah Sawyer at 6:30. With 32 second remaining in the game, Boston College scored one final goal, when Blaire Antsey scored only her second goal of her career.
Miller ended the day with six goals and five assists for nine points, improving her personal best of six goals and three assists for nine points set three times this season. For Zwarg, her goal was the first of her career and Zorzi's was her second.
In goal for the Eagles, Rachel Zeller stopped 8, preserving Boston College's largest margin of victory of the season. For the Cardinals, Rachel Neumann saved nine and Sara Shamos saved one.
With the win the Eagles improve to 5-9 overall and remained and 1-5 in the BIG EAST, while Stanford falls to 11-5 overall.
The Boston College women's lacrosse team will next face Monmouth, in a non-conference game, on Sunday, April 29, at 12:00 noon at Alumni Stadium. Preceding the game, the 2001 seniors will be honored in a ceremony, marking their final collegiate game.
