Softball Splits With Syracuse

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College and Syracuse spilt a pair of 2-0 games on Sunday, April 22, at Shea Field. In the first game, Tekae Malandris pitched a complete game four-hitter to lead the Eagles to the win. In the second game, the Orangewomen posted two runs in the top of the seventh inning to produce the win.
Erin Mackey doubled in Jen Asbury in the bottom of the second inning for the Eagles' first run in the first contest. In the fourth, Malandris helped her cause by singling in Lisa Fischer from second base for the 2-0 lead.
In the nightcap, Kim Ryan pitched a shutout into the seventh inning when Missy Bieman hit a double into left field that plated two runners. BC could not assemble a rally in the bottom of the inning for the win or to send the game into extra innings.
With the split, BC moved to 23-21 on the season and 6-9 in BIG EAST games. Syracuse improved to 12-21 and 3-9 in league games.
The Eagles will next play Holy Cross in a doubleheader in Worcester, on Tuesday, April 24, starting at 3 p.m.
