Sophomore guard Troy Bell earned Boston College Basketball's Most Valuable Player honor and senior guard Xavier Singletary captured the Defensive Player of the Year honor. The awards were presented at the Eagles' annual awards banquet on Friday, April 20, 2001.
Senior Kenny Harley earned the Frank Power Award, given annual to the player "who exemplifies the dedication, loyalty, spirit and love for Boston College and its basketball program that was characteristic of Coach Power and his life." Power was a 1943 graduate of Boston College and spent 32 years as a scout, recruiter and assistant to six different head coaches. He was head coach for the 1962-63 season.
Senior Nicolas Dunn earned the team's Student-Athlete Award for the fourth consecutive season.
Senior Jonathan Beerbohm and freshman Ryan Sidney shared the Sixth Man Award. Sophomore Uka Agbai was the team's Top Rebounder. Junior Joel Pardalis gained the Mary Kay Waldron Award, given annually to a team manager.
Boston College finished the 2000-01 season with a 27-5 mark, setting the school record for victories in one season. The Eagles captured the BIG EAST East Division regular-season title with a 13-3 record. The team also won the AT&T BIG EAST Championship Tournament crown.
Boston College finished the season ranked seventh in the Associated Press poll and 11th in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
