Women's Lacrosse Falls Short To New Hampshire

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Lauren Miller scored six goals and assisted on three others as the Boston College women's lacrosse team fell to New Hampshire 14-13, today, at Alumni Stadium.
Opening the scoring at 28:53, Collen Christopher scored unassisted. The Eagles rallied back with when Meggie O'Neill scored from Lauren Miller at 28:14. The Wildcats went on to score three consecutive goals from Christine Anneberg - assisted by Megan Mangano, Anneberg and Sue Yund. The Eagles responded when Chrissie DeMichele scored. The two teams would then swap a pair of goals when New Hampshire's Jessie Graszkowski scored followed by a Miller goal.
Scoring three more goals for New Hampshire was Yund, Graszkowski and Molly Cherington from Groszkowski before Miller scored her second goal for the Eagles. To end the Wildcat's scoring in the first half, New Hampshire scored 14 seconds apart , the first by Cherington from Christopher and the second by Anneberg. The Eagles made the score 10-5 at the intermission, when Katie Zorzi scored from O'Neill.
Just 51 seconds in to the second half, the Eagles would begin their comeback when Miller scored unassisted. Narrowing the margin more, Emily Ryan scored from Miller. Scoring their first goal of the half, Christopher netted her second goal in the game. But the Eagles would score two more consecutive goals from Miller, unassisted and Ryan from a Miller pass, to bring the game within two.
Lengthening their lead, New Hampshire used two goals, one from Liz Lenseth - assisted by Christopher, and Yund. Yet the Eagles responded again, with goals from Miller and Ryan, with the Ryan assisting on Miller's goal and Miller assisting on Ryan's goal. At 8:46, New Hampshire's Anneberg netted what would prove to be the game winning goal for Wildcats. But the Eagles would fight to the end, when Miller scored at 3:07 and Tara Morley added another at 1:02.
In goal for the Eagles, Rachel Zeller stopped 10. For the Wildcats, Amanda Warren saved two and Danielle Martin saved six.
With the loss the Eagles fall to 3-9 overall and remained and 1-5 in the BIG EAST, while New Hampshire improves to 8-4.
The Boston College women's lacrosse team will next face Denver, in a non-conference game, on Fri, Apr. 20, at 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
