Baseball Wins Doubleheader Over Buffalo

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Boston College defeated Buffalo 8-5 in the first game and 8-2 in the second contest of the twinbill in Homestead, Fla. Tuesday, March 6. The Eagles extended their win streak to three and improved to 4-5 while dropping the Bulls to 0-6.
Chris Rosado hit three-fourths of a cycle, posting a single, double and home run for three RBIs and two runs scored in the second game. Joe Kealty also tagged a pair of hits with one run batted in.
Sophomore Matt Lederhos pitched a three-hitter, throwing a career-high 11 strikeouts - three more strikeouts than his 2000 total - in 6.0 innings while surrendering only one earned run in his fourth career start.
Down 2-0 after 3.0 innings, the Eagles erupted with four runs in the fourth on the strength of Rosado's RBI double, and RBIs from Kealty and Jeff Mackor. In the same frame, Brian Durkin hit his second home run in three games to cushion the Eagles advantage to 4-2. BC would add four more runs in the next two frames to get the win.
BC scored six runs, and Chris Gannon threw four hitless innings in game one before the Bulls' five-run, fifth inning pulled them within one at 6-5. Ryan Leahy drove in two of BC's six runs in the third and fourth innings. The Eagles also got RBI support in those two frames from Neal McCarthy, Mike Hubbard, and Joe Kealty, who slammed a two-run double. Kealty had three RBIs in that game. BC added two insurance runs in the sixth.
Brian Macchi, Hubbard and Leahy all notched a pair of hits while Brian Durkin went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Chris Gannon finished with seven strikeouts through 5.1 innings for his first win of the season. Mark Sullivan earned the save, allowing only two hits in 1.2 innings.
Mark McMahon and Nick Bellacose registered the losses on the mound for Albany.
BC faces Yale Wednesday, March 7 in Homestead, Fla. Game time is 1 p.m.
