CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior guard Troy Bell scored 24 points and senior swingman Kenny Walls netted 23 points to lead 11th-ranked Boston College to a 75-51 non-league win over Holy Cross before a crowd of 5,584 fans in Conte Forum.
Boston College raised its record to 9-0 with the win. The victory marked the Eagles' 25th consecutive home triumph. Holy Cross dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
The host Eagles never trailed in the contest. BC jumped out to a 13-2 lead less than three minutes into the game and extended its advantage to 19 points -- 29-10 -- midway though the first half. BC settled for a 42-29 halftime advantage. Walls had 15 points in the opening half, while Bell added 13.
Boston College scored the first seven points of the second half and never allowed the Crusaders to threaten its lead. The Eagles led by as many as 29 points twice late in the game.
Brian Wilson led Holy Cross with 13 points, while Nate Lufkin finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Game Notes: Boston College shot 52.0 percent from the field -- 53.6 percent in the first half and 50.0 percent in the second half. Holy Cross shot 33.9 percent from the floor ... Holy Cross outrebounded Boston College, 40-37. Ryan Sidney grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for his fifth double-digit rebounding effort of the season. He also handed out a team-high six assists ... Junior forward Uka Agbai tallied 12 points for his seventh double-figure scoring effort of the season ... Troy Bell shot 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. He made his first five of the game, before missing his final attempt. His miss snapped his consecutive free-throw (made) streak at 30. Bell also made 30 consecutive free throws earlier in his collegiate career. He made his final 28 free-throw attempts of his freshman season, and then made the first two attempts of his sophomore season ... Bell's 24-point effort raised his point total to 100 points in the last three games. The last BC player to score more points in any three-game stretch was Dana Barros who scored 104 points in three games midway through his senior season (28 vs. Coastal Carolina on Dec. 29, 1988, 33 vs. Florida Tech on Dec. 30, 1988, and 43 at Pittsburgh on Jan. 7, 1989).
