Aaron Paye's goal in the 121st minute broke a scoreless tie and lifted Fairleigh Dickinson to a 1-0 win over Boston College in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Men's College Cup.
Boston College gained a one-man advantage in the game's 81st minute, when a FDU player was ejected after receiving a second yellow card. Both teams enjoyed quality scoring chances in the contest, but both goalkeepers met the challenge. BC's Danny Caruso finished with four saves, while FDU's Vytautas Lenkutis made six stops.
Paye ended the match by firing a low shot to the inside post, beating a diving Caruso.
Boston College finishes the season with a 10-8 record. Fairleigh Dickinson will move on to face host Princeton in the tournament's second round.
