Hockey Drops 5-2 Game At Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - Boston College dropped its opening game of a two-game series to Wisconsin, 5-2, on Friday night at the Kohl Center. The win improved the Badgers to 3-2-0 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 2-4-1 overall.
After a scoreless first period, Wisconsin scored three straight goals to take a 3-0 lead. The Badgers broke into the scoring column when Rob Vega snuck a shot in from the point at 2:41 of the second period to start the scoring. Andy Wozniewski added the second goal with a wrist shot from the left point at 7:08, before Matt Murray took a pass from behind the net and put the puck past Eagle goaltender Tim Kelleher for Wisconsin's third goal at 14:43.
A pair of freshmen got the Eagles on the board when Ryan Murphy knocked in the rebound of a Ned Havern shot at 15:47 to bring the Eagles within two goals at the end of the second period. Senior Ales Dolinar set up the play, carrying the puck into the Wisconsin zone before feeding a streaking Havern down the middle.
J.D. Forrest's goal at 5:08 of the third put BC within one goal. The defenseman intercepted a clearing pass at the point and launched a rising shot that beat Badger netminder Scott Kabotoff.
Wisconsin regained its two-goal cushion when David Hukalo tipped in his own rebound at 9:04 of the final frame, then added another score at 15:56 to take a 5-2 advantage. Andy Wheeler netted the goal right in front of the net.
Tim Kelleher made 20 saves for the Eagles while Kabotoff stopped 41 shots. BC outshot Wisconsin 43-25 on the night.
Boston College will face the Badgers in the second game of the two-game set on Saturday, November 3 at 8:05 EST before returning home to Kelley Rink on Thursday, November 8 when the team hosts Merrimack at 7 p.m.
