Baseball coaches from Boston College, Harvard, Northeastern, Tufts, Stonehill, Bryant, Trinity (TX), professional scouts and coaches from the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston College players will all be a part of the third annual Pete Hughes Christmas Baseball Clinic. The clinic will be held in the Boston College Bubble, which extends over Alumni Stadium.
The individual camp will kick off on December 26 and run through December 29. The camp will be broken down into two sections. Children attending session I, which are kids ranging from ages 7-12, will go from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., while session II, which is kids from ages 13-18, will go from 12 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The Bubble will also host a high school team camp, which will run from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on December 30. This clinic is offered to any high school student.
The clinics will consist of both instruction and guest lectures. In the instruction portion of the clinic, the coaches, scouts and players will teach the fundamentals of pitching, defense and batting. The guest lectures will cover baseball fundamentals, the recruiting process and strength and conditioning.
The Bubble is something Boston College prides itself with. The four-year old dome is the finest indoor facility in the Northeast. Inside the Bubble, there are four full-sized batting cages, two regulation diamonds and bullpen areas.
"No other New England program has a baseball facility with these capabilities," Boston College baseball head coach Pete Hughes said. "We can do everything in this facility that we can do outside. For a northeast baseball program to competitive nationally in Division I, they must improve in January and February. This facility gives us that advantage."
