PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Boston College running back William Green has been named BIG EAST offensive player of the week, the league announced. Syracuse linebacker Clifton Smiht earned defensive accolades, while Nick Lotz of Pittsburgh captured Special Teams Player of the Week.
Green (Atlantic City, N.J.) earns weekly honors for the third time this season and fourth in his career after leading BC to a 21-17 win over Notre Dame. The junior running back finished with 262 total yards, including 195 rushing yards on 28 carries. He had a 71-yard touchdown run, the longest of his career.
Green also recorded a 70-yard touchdown reception, the longest for the Eagles since 1999 (Tim Hasselbeck to Dedrick Dewalt, 97 yards). Green finished with two catches for 67 yards. He has the top three and four of the five best single-game rushing performances in the BIG EAST this season.
