Krause Nets Two As Men's Soccer Tops Georgetown

NEWTON, Mass. - Sophomore Neil Krause scored his second goal of the game just 41 seconds into overtime as Boston College defeated Georgetown in men's soccer action, 3-2, at the Newton Campus Soccer Field on Sunday. On a day honoring the Eagles' four seniors, the senior class recorded five points in the game.
Boston College (9-5-0, 6-3-0 BIG EAST) opened the scoring in the 16th minute when senior Chris Cleary stormed down the center of the box, faked a shot, then delivered the ball to senior Eyvind Aasen who came in down the wing and deposited the ball inside the left post. Freshman Bill Arnault sent Cleary in alone on net and was also credited with an assist.
BC nearly took a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute when Pat Haggerty's shot off a corner was stopped at the goal line by a Georgetown defender.
The Eagles extended the lead as the second half when Krause knocked in an Arnault cross from the right corner. His goal came in the 53rd minute and gave BC 2-0 advantage.
Georgetown (6-8-1, 4-4-0 BIG EAST) mounted a comeback in the 57th minute when Kenny Owens settled the ball in a scramble in front of the net and scored the Hoyas first goal. Nate Port evened the score at 2-2 in the 62nd minute when Carl Skanderup sent a ball across the field off a throw in to set up Port's one-timer. Andy Sole' also received an assist on the goal.
Krause gave BC the win in the 91st minute. Senior Martin Cantillo sent Cleary down the wing, who then beat two defenders and found Krause alone in front of the net with a cross.
BC's Danny Caruso made five saves in the win, while Georgetown's Brian O'Hagan made six saves in the loss.
Boston College will next face Brown in a non-conference match-up on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31 in Providence, R.I. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
