CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College crept back into the national rankings this week, garnering a ranking of 24 in the Oct. 1 edition of the NSCAA/adidas poll. The team is tied with Clemson for 24th place. Also, in the New England region, Boston College jumped from a ninth-place showing last week into third place behind Fairfield and Connecticut.
After a 2-0 week that saw the team defeat No. 18 Harvard and Boston University, the Eagles earned their first appearance in the poll since the Sept. 3 edition when the team was ranked 15th. On Wednesday, Sept. 26, BC defeated the Crimson at home, 3-2, behind two goals from sophomore Neil Krause. Four days later on Sept. 29, the Eagles topped the Terriers on the road, 1-0, on Chris Cleary's goal in the 85th minute.
Overall, five BIG EAST Conference teams - St. John's (3), Rutgers (10), Seton Hall (18), Connecticut (20) and Boston College - are ranked in the national Top 25, the most from any one conference.
Boston College has a 5-2-0 overall record this season, with a 2-1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Eagles will next face Villanova on Sunday, Oct. 7 in a noon contest at the Newton Campus Field.
