Women's Track Races At Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass-The Boston College women' track team competed at Boston University's Terrier Classic on Fri. Jan. 26 and Sat. Jan 27 in Boston. The event was a non-scoring meet.
Setting a school record in the 3,000-meter event, Shannon Smith ran a 9:20.31and took second place. The record which was held by nine-time All-American Angie Graham, was set in 1997 with a time of 9:20.58.
Taking second place in the 3,000 run was Katie Ryan. Following in 17th place was Cate Guiney. In the one mile race Laura Smith took fourth place.
Winning the 5,000 meter run, Maggie Guiney ran a 16:31, setting a personal best and collecting the second best time in the Eagle's record book. Following in the eighth place in the 5,000 was Julie Spolidoro.
The Boston College men and women's track and field team will next compete on Sat. Feb. 3 at the University of Rhode Island. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Teams participating are Rhode Island, Central Connecticut and Massachusetts-Amherst.
