Track Competes at the Rhode Island Open

KINGSTON, R.I.-The Boston College men and women's track and field teams competed at the Rhode Island Invitational on Sat. Feb. 2. Finishing in third place, the women's team competed against eight teams and the men's team took fourth out of nine.
Taking back to back finishes, Zoey O'Sullivan and Nikki Pogue took second and third, respectively in the 55-meter dash. In the 500-meter, Jen Vendetti won with a time of 1:17.46. Lauren Claudia followed in third in the 500. Cate Guiney took second in the mile with a time of 4:57.15. Jumping 10.21 meters, Allison Castaldi took second in the triple jump.
On the men's side, Jonathan Ordway took second in the 55-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash, Mark Johnson finished in second. Jeff Normant took second in the 500-meter. In the 1,000-meter run, Vernon Mickle finished in second.
The Boston College men and women's track and field team will next compete on Sat. Feb. 10 against New Hampshire and Vermont at UNH in Durham, N.H. at noon. Selected members of the team will remain in Boston and compete at Boston University's Valentine's Classic on Sat. Feb 10, also at noon.
