Women's Basketball Falls To No. 24 Villanova, 71-56

BOSTON (AP) - Katie Davis scored a career-high 23 points and Mimi Riley had 13 as No. 24 Villanova beat Boston College 71-56 Saturday in front of 1738 fans at Conte Forum.
Brandi Barnes, the team's leading scorer at 14.4 points per game, was held to three points, but had 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (14-5, 5-3 Big East).
Villanova, which entered the week ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in 14 years, hit 11 of 21 three-pointers. Davis paced the way, going 4-for-7. Trish Juhline was 3-for-5.
Becky Gottstein led the Eagles (8-11, 2-6) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Nicole Conway added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Jacobs also scored 12 points for the Eagles. The game marked the third time this season the Eagles had two players with double-doubles in the same contest. Boston College has dropped six of its last seven games, all in the conference.
The Wildcats closed the first half with a 13-4 run and led 40-27 at the break. After a 6-0 run by the Eagles at the start of the second half, Villanova followed with an 11-0 run, pushing its lead to 53-37 with 11:05 to play.
The Wildcats' advantage never fell below double digits the rest of the way.
