CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Selected members of the women's track and field team competed at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational on Sun. Jan. 21 at the Gordon Indoor Track Facility on the Harvard campus in Cambridge, Mass.
Leading the Eagles with her second national top performance in as many meets, fifth year captain Shannon Smith won the one-mile invite run. With at time of 4:41.98, Smith performed the best time in the one-mile in Division I NCAA track and field. The Eagles dominate the event, as junior captain Katie Ryan took fourth, sophomore Laura Smith finished fifth and freshman Jennifer Donovan came in sixth. Following, freshman Jennifer Kramer took eighth place.
In the 60-meter dash, junior Zoey O'Sullivan finished in seventh place. Winning the 400-meter finals, Jenifer Vendetti finished with a time of 58.95. In the one-mile race, freshman Danielle Jelley took third place. In the 60-meter high hurdles, senior captain Kate Sullivan finished in fifth place.
In the high jump, sophomore Christina Regan and freshman Julie Heyde finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth place, receptively. Senior Kristin O'Brien finished in third place in the pole vault with jump of 8'10.25". Taking third, freshman Allison Castaldi competed in the triple jump. With a throw of 42'09.75" sophomore Megan Kearney finished in seventh in the 20 lb. weight throw.
The Eagles will next compete at the Husky Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Fri. Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. Selective members of the team also compete on Fri. Jan.26 but at the Terrier Classic at Boston University's Commonwealth Armory at a time to be determined.
