LOWELL, Mass. - Defenseman J. D. Forrest and forward Chuck Kobasew each scored one goal and senior goaltender Scott Clemmensen made 29 saves to lead Boston College to a 2-1 HOCKEY EAST victory over UMass Lowell before a crowd of 4,477 at Tsongas Arena.
After a scoreless first and second period, Forrest put the Eagles on the board with a power-play goal 1:26 into the third period. It was the fourth goal of the season for the freshman.
Kobasew doubled the BC lead with his 12th goal of the season at 8:49. The freshman has scored 12 goals and 13 assists this season.
Junior forward Jeff Giuliano assisted on both BC goals. Junior Brooks Orpik and senior Rob Scuderi also registered assists.
UMass Lowell (10-9-2, 3-7-2) pulled goaltender Jimi St. John with 2:09 to play to gain a 6-on-4 advantage. River Hawk freshman Laurent Meunier would score at 17:54 to pull UMass Lowell to within one goal, but they would get no closer.
St. John stopped 29 Eagle shots for the River Hawks.
Third-ranked Boston College (14-5-1, 7-2-1) returns to action on Tuesday, January 16, when it travels to North Andover to face Merrimack in a league game at 7 p.m.
