NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -Merrimack's top line of Nick Parillo, Marco Rosa and Anthony Aquino accounted for 11 points, pacing the Warriors to a 6-3 HOCKEY EAST win over Boston College in front of a crowd of 2,649 at Merrimack's Volpe Center.
Merrimack (11-12-2, 4-8-1) would take an early lead when Rosa scored 3:45 into the first period. Freshman J. D. Forrest evened the score at 16:55 of the first, connecting on a slapshot from near the blue line for his second shorthanded goal of the season.
Each team scored two goals each in the second period. Vincent Clevenger and Parillo scored for Merrimack. Parillo's goal came on the power play.
Mark McLennan and Chuck Kobasew each scored at even strength for Boston College. The game was tied at 3-3 entering the third period.
Parillo scored the game-winner 3:40 into the final period. John Pyliotis added an insurance goal at 16:33, and Aquino scored a five-on-three power-play goal at 17:14 to put the game out of reach.
Merrimack finished the game two for seven with the man advantage. BC did not convert on four power play opportunities.
BC's Scott Clemmensen made 20 saves. The Warrior's Joe Exter stopped 31 BC shots for the win.
Second-ranked Boston College (15-6-1, 8-3-1) returns to action on Friday, January 19, hosting the first game of a weekend home-and-home series with the Providence Friars. Saturday, the Eagles travel to Providence for the second game of the series. Both contests begin at 7 p.m.
