BOSTON (AP) - Tim Hasselbeck passed for a career-high 355 yards, including two touchdowns to Dedric Dewalt, as Boston College beat Navy 48-7 on Saturday.
Hasselbeck, who was 20-for-28, had the most yards by a Boston College quarterback since Scott Mutryn threw for 369 yards in a 32-31 loss to Navy on Oct. 24, 1998.
The Eagles (2-1), idle last week following a 55-17 win at Army, outgained Navy 625-223 for their second straight 500-plus yard effort. Boston College will play No. 5 Virginia Tech next week.
Cedric Washington ran 24 times for 107 yards and one TD for Boston College. William Green added TD runs of 1 and 3 yards, and backup quarterback Brian St. Pierre had a 6-yard scoring pass to Josh Cervi.
After Navy botched snap on a 44-yard field-goal attempt on the first possession of the game, Green opened the scoring with a 1-yard run. The play capped a 50-yard drive, highlighted by Hasselbeck's 26-yard pass to DuJuan Daniels.
Just 3:21 later, Hasselbeck threw a 30-yard TD pass to Dewalt. Mike Sutphin's 39-yard field goal made it 17-0 early in the second quarter.
After Chris Lepore's interception in the end zone thwarted a long Eagles' drive, the Midshipmen made it 17-7 on Rashad Jamal's 12-yard TD run.
Hasselbeck struck again on the follow possession, connecting on consecutive passes of 28 and 37 yards to Dewalt. Hasselbeck was 12-for-14 for 240 yards and two touchdowns in opening half.
In the second half, Sutphin's 24-yard field goal capped a 15-play, 71-yard drive. Washington's 5-yard TD run made it 34-7 late in the third quarter.
Green's 3-yard TD run made it 41-7 early in the final quarter. St. Pierre's TD pass completed the scoring.
