Tilghman, Freshmen Carry Eagles To Ninth Place Finish

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Boston College men's golf team started out the Fall season this past weekend at the Yale Invitational Golf Tournament. BC was one of 21 teams to compete at the par 70, 6,749 - yard Yale University Country Club, fairing very well in overall team competition.
The Eagles tied for ninth in team competition, firing a 932 (321-305-306) in three rounds of play. Junior Rich Tilghman was the top finisher for Boston College, tying for twelfth place individually with a stellar 225 (82-72-71). The freshmen, competing in their first ever collegiate tournament, played a crucial role in carrying the team to their ninth place finish. Sean McReynolds went five over par on the last two days of the tournament to finish tied for twentieth place with a 228 (78-75-75), while freshmen Christopher Sanossian and David Currey also made huge contributions. Senior Mike Rich finished with a 243 over his three days of competition (82-79-82).
The University of Hartford claimed first place in the tournament, shooting an impressive 886 ( 292-293-301). In individual competition, Binghamton University's Adam Puchs shot 3 - under par on day two to take first place with a 216 (74-67-75).
In upcoming competition, the Eagles will face off against Boston University on Wednesday, September 20th and will be competing in the Dartmouth Invitational next weekend.
