Shari Krasnoo Named Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

Shari Krasnoo, who has enjoyed a highly-successful career in women's lacrosse both as a player and coach, has been named the head coach of the Boston College program as announced by athletic director Gene DeFilippo. Krasnoo comes to Boston College after serving as the head coach at Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J., for the past six years.
Krasnoo was the only head coach in the history of the Monmouth program and led the Hawks to a 13-4 record last year and an appearance in the championship game of the Northeast Conference tournament. Krasnoo coached Monmouth to winning seasons in four of her last five years at the school and the team appeared in the NEC championship game twice, while finishing in second place during the regular season twice. She was named the NEC coach of the year in 1998.
A collegiate performer at Colgate, Krasnoo was named first team All-America following her senior season by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the United States Women's Lacrosse Association (USWLA).

Her 2000 Monmouth team ranked tied for fourth in the country for NCAA Division I for winning percentage at .765, fifth in the country in scoring offense at 13.35 goals per game, sixth in scoring defense at 7.18 goals per game allowed and second in scoring margin at plus-6.18 goals per game.
Krasnoo came to Monmouth after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Trenton State College in Ewing, N.J., from 1993-94. During her time there, Trenton State posted a 31-0 record and won two NCAA Division III national championship. Krasnoo also served as an assistant field hockey coach at the school.
She spent the 1991-92 academic year as an assistant women's lacrosse and women's soccer coach at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
While a collegiate performer at Colgate, she became the first women's lacrosse player in school history to earn Division I All-America honors. She was named the Patriot League player of the year as a senior when she led the country in scoring with 85 goals and 20 assists for 105 points, which ranks among the NCAA's all-time top 10 single-season totals. She was named to the Colgate University Athletic Hall of Honor in 1998.
Krasnoo finished her Colgate career as the school's all-time leading scorer with 324 points - fifth-best in NCAA history. During her collegiate career, she scored a total of 245 goals and 79 assists. She was a three-time member of the United States national team (1989-92). At Colgate, she also played women's soccer and was the 1990 Patriot League player of the year.
Krasnoo earned her bachelor's degree in education and sociology/anthropology from Colgate in 1991. She earned a master's degree form Trenton State in 1994 in athletic administration.
