Softball Sweeps Holy Cross

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- Boston College improved to 6-11 overall with two victories over Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon at Shea Field. The Eagles won the first game of the home double-header, 8-0, and defeated Holy Cross, 10-1, in the nightcap.
In the first game, the Eagles scored six runs in the first inning and added one run in the third and the sixth to register the 8-0 victory. Freshman Kim Ryan pitched her first career shutout and allowed only one hit while striking out five Crusaders. Seniors Lauren Fischetti and Anne Marie Ambros each went 2-for-3 as Boston College snapped a two-game losing streak.
The Eagles continued their offensive explosion in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning. Boston College pitcher Brooke Shull improved to 2-0 on the season after the game was called after five innings due to an eight-run "mercy" rule. The Eagles added one run in the third inning, and exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to secure the victory. Jennifer Lombardi was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Boston College will host the University of Maine at Shea Field on Thursday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m., before traveling to St. Johns on Saturday, April 8, and Seton Hall on Sunday, April 9.
