Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Two days ago, there wasn't a worry in the world for the Boston College softball team. The Eagles were 7-3 in the league, tied for second place and seemingly assured of a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament, which BC will host next weekend.
Heading into the final day of conference regular-season play, though, things are a bit more sticky. The Eagles are now 7-7 and in jeopardy of missing the postseason after doubleheader sweeps at the hands of UConn and Villanova on Friday and Saturday.
Boston College is now 18-21 overall.
On Friday, the Eagles dropped back-to-back 5-2 games in Storrs, Conn. Jennifer Asbury had an RBI double in game one and Julie Ulbrich drove in a run with a two-bagger in the second game.
Villanova came to Shea Field on Saturday and held the Eagles to just one hit in a 5-0 game one victory. Keri Stoller took the win for the Wildcats. In the nightcap, a Chris Vicari home run was the only BC offense, as Villanova finished the sweep with a 4-1 win.
Boston College will host Rutgers in its final two regular-season home games on Sunday before traveling to UMass on Tuesday afternoon.
