Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior Julie Ulbrich drove in pinch-runner Jaclyn Woitkowski with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Boston College a 3-2 win over 18th-ranked Notre Dame and a doubleheader split at Shea Field.
The Fighting Irish won the first game, 7-0, behind a four-hit shutout from pitcher Jennifer Sharron.
In the nightcap, the Eagles got on the board in the first inning when Chris Vicari hit a two-run homer to left field off of Irish starter Michelle Moschel. Notre Dame would answer back in the top of the second on a two-run shot by Jarrah Myers, and the game would remain scoreless until the Eagles rallied in the bottom of the ninth.
Pitcher Lauren Fischetti led off the inning with a double before being lifted for Woitkowski, who took third on a wild pitch by Sharron. Summer Jarratt then walked to put runners at the corners. With one out, pinch hitter Jennifer Lombardi reached on a fielder's choice bunt to load the bases for Ulbrich, who ripped a base hit to left field to end the game.
Boston College is now 14-15 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST play. Notre Dame remains atop the conference at 6-2 with a 33-11 overall record.
The Eagles will host Pittsburgh in a Sunday doubleheader beginning at noon.
