April 13, 2000 - Powered by Chris McIntyre's two goals and three assists, the Yale University Bulldogs defeated the Boston College Eagles 15-6 yesterday in New Haven, Conn.
After Yale's Mike Scaglione opened the scoring at 13:57 of the first period, Boston College senior captain Jason Wren (Sudbury, MA), on an assist from senior Dan Hayden (Lakewood, OH), got the Eagles on the scoreboard at 9:48. Junior Taylor Whitman (Oldwick, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal at 6:18 to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage heading into the second period.
The Eagles' quick start, however, did not carry them through the remainder of the contest. Yale (5-4), behind scoring runs of six goals in the second and five in the third, effectively dismissed Boston College (1-6) and put the game out of reach.
Highlights for the Eagles included two goals apiece from Wren, Whitman, and junior Andy Koch (Rye, N.Y.).
Senior captain Tom Gallagher (Point Lookout, N.Y.), under sustained pressure from the Bulldogs, managed to stop a season-high 22 shots in net.
The Eagles next travel to Riverdale, N.Y. to face the Jaspers of Manhattan College April 22. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
