Andrew Bryant, a 6-foot-7-inch, 235-pound forward from Denison (Texas) High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Boston College, according to an announcement by Boston College head coach Al Skinner. Bryant will enroll at BC in September 2000 and begin play during the 2000-2001 season.
A versatile athlete, Bryant earned All-State second team honors this past season. He averaged 23.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.0 blocked shots per game.
Bryant had narrowed his choices to Boston College and Texas Tech, before selecting the Eagles.
"We're very excited that Andrew chose Boston College," Skinner said. "We believe he has the ability and the desire to step in and make immediate contributions to our team. He's a fine all-around player who has the ability to play several positions on the floor."
Andrew is the son of Andrew and Deborah Bryant and the grandson of Andrew and Wilma Bryant. His older brother, Clayton Baker, was a star cornerback at the University of Missouri (1993-96).
Boston College will return 10 lettermen from the 1999-2000 team that finished with an 11-19 record (3-13 BIG EAST).
