Providence, R.I. - The Boston College bats picked a perfect time to perk up.
Down by six runs after two innings, the Eagles scored 13 unanswered runs to earn a 13-6 win and a doubleheader sweep at Brown.
Boston College won the first game, 3-1, behind solid pitching performances by Kimberly Ryan and Lauren Fischetti. The two scattered six hits while striking out nine. Cara Blumfield was 3-for-4 in the game and scored all three BC runs.
In the nightcap, Brown scored five second-inning runs to chase Eagle starter Brooke Shull from the mound, but the Eagles responded with a four-run fourth and a six-run fifth, and Fischetti pitched 5 1/3 innings of shutout relief to pick up the victory.
Fischetti was also 3-for-4 at the plate in the second game, including a three-run homer in the fifth. Jennifer Asbury was 3-for-5, while Julie Ulbrich scored four runs for Boston College. The Eagles pounded out 15 hits in the win.
With the sweep, the Eagles improve to 11-14 on the season. They will return home to face Harvard in another non-league twinbill beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
